HOLLOW HORSE
FIVE YEAR DIARY
(TORTOISE)
reviewed by Phil Hogarth

From the moment Kenny Little sings "if you don't know where you're going/any road can take you there" on the albums opener "One Day",you can sit back and relax, safe in the knowledge that you're about to listen to something just that bit special.

This is honest,no frills attached music. I could liken them to The Barenaked Ladies without the side order of quirkiness ("One Day","Prayer to St.Jude"),or maybe a hint of Squeeze ("Soft Place To Fall"), Miracle Mile ("Suicide") or even Paul Weller ("Little Dove Hill") but that would be unfair because overall Hollow Horses individuality shines through.

This is a great album to help wash away those post Christmas Winter blues. So,if like me, the only thing that matters is the music then this album is a must, but you don't have to take my word for it, check them out at www.hollowhorse.co.uk and look out for their follow up album Beggerstown, out soon!
