Question:
what do Paddy McAloon and David Bridie have in common? They are in love
with radio waves. As the latter announces that his new album is to be
titled 'Hotel Radio', the former declares that the beginning of 2003 will
bring forth his new 'creature', bearing the name of 'I Trawl The Megahertz'.
According to the official Prefab Sprout homepage, McAloon has already
completed the new songs, due for release in 2003. Rumours are circulating
about 'ITTM', said to be very different from 'Gunman and other stories'
- PS latest effort - and from anything Paddy has ever done. Apparently,
the new work - which was conceived by Paddy when recovering from his eye
operation and having to listen to call-in radio shows - may actually feature
radio snippets of those shows, whose purpose will be that of creating
stories and expressing someone's perception of life. ITTM is likely to
be an instrumental/spoken word album and very unlikely will be released
on a major record label. Other members of the band haven't been credited
yet, which possibly means that the name Prefab Sprout actually means Paddy
McAloon only.
