Good
news from the Miracle Mile. Speaking exclusively to Rainsound, Trevor
Jones said that the new album is going well and that it has a (tentative)
title. 'Alaska', that's what the follow-up to 'Slow Fade' should be called
- is being recorded and co-produced by and with Marcus Cliffe at his Norbury
Brook studio. Says Trevor: "The songs are written, stories told,
we're just colouring in around the edges at the moment. I think it's a
good one".
The
recording and producing process has just had "an enforced break",
as Marcus "is just off today for a 7 week tour of the States with
William Topley (ex The Blessing) to promote his new album Feasting
with Panthers".
Trevor
Jones also wrote a few lines which will probably be featured in the cd
cover or booklet:
Alaska.
Anywhere but here.
The 'Other Life', where nature rules. Where there's room for the honest
mistake, redemption, and time for tenderness.
Small dramas sustain or break us, make each life unique and, ultimately,
bearable. These everyday miracles reveal themselves haphazardly, but if
we care
enough to notice them, they enrich us and help us to go on.
I hope that these songs and stories touch you and help find a place for
your fears to go. If you are fearless, this is all useless to you. For
me, hope
is a half light, but it is light enough. As Raymond Carver said: "Life,
always Life".
There's no release date for 'Alaska' yet, but details and (hopefully)
tracklist will follow soon. In the meantime, you can enjoy some snapshots
